5th Element

5th Element (Peter Lopez) is an american Hip-Hop producer from Las Vegas, Nevada, originally from Far Rockaway Queens New York. Growing up listening to Hip-Hop in the 90's and being in an environment where graffiti was prominent, he couldn't resist but to join the movement. Influences such as Alchemist, DJ Premier, and Rza were a key role in his decision to want to produce tracks. In 2003 he began to experiment making beats for fun just to show his classmates and family. Eventually, after developing a signature sound, he was contacted by various local artists for collaborations. This went on for about 4 years, during which he would consistently produce 8-12 beats a week. In 2007, through the social networking site Myspace, an unsigned artist from South Florida contacted 5th for a collab. His name was Hex One, and he was in a Hip-Hop group called Epidemic with Tek-nition as his partner in rhyme. They went on to make their first track together titled "Unforgettable," in which 5th Element sampled Syl Johnson's "I Hate I Walked Away." As 5th continued to work with other artists, he was always trying to bring skilled MC's together to spit over his beats, in hopes of creating a project consisting of nothing but quality. Shortly after however, the recession hit, and all of his previous contacts would be too preoccupied with feeding their families and keeping a roof over their heads to put in work on music. That's when he decided to release "5th Invented the Remix" in which he took acapellas from original Hip-Hop songs and put his original beat on them. His consistent production gave him a solid following of a couple hundred fans on Myspace and Youtube. As time went on, he felt that the Hip-Hop game was weakening, that the new generation will be born into mainstream music, and that all real Hip-Hop will be forgotten forever. This culminated leading to his decision to work with Hex One to create a full-length collaboration album in late 2010. After a few months of hard work, and a couple of new tracks, "Illin Spree" was complete. "The release had us on the edge of our seats. It's very rare to find people that still listen to 90's underground Hip-Hop with conscious rap and actual story lines. The first month of the release's sales went crazy! People actually loved the skill and hard work put into the album. People recommended people who then recommended other people, and the word spread." -5th. Now the Las Vegas producer is focusing on making more tracks and plans on having many future releases. Some of his upcoming projects include an instrumental-only version of "Illin Spree" with exclusive unreleased beats, and another full length album with Epidemic titled "Hologramz." Stay tuned!
