Conductor Karl Munchinger is well noted for restoring baroque traditions to the interpretation of Bach's oeuvre. His greatest musical love were moderate-sized forces, judicious ornamentation, and rhythmic sprightliness, though not on historical instruments. The present recording of Bach's "Musikalisches Opfer" is based on an own instrumentation Munchinger created specially for his Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, which makes it unique, facinating and very different from all other recordings of this work currently circulating, because Munchinger is showing his great love and respect for Bach's oevre.
