After two well-received albums, Montreal experimenters Elfin Saddle changed their pace with 2010′s film and EP Wurld. With that out of their systems, they’ve returned to the album format for a brand new long-player. The new record is called Devastates and was recorded in an abandoned chapel in rural Quebec. Like their previous work, the album continues to explore “the tensions between nature and technology on multiple levels… This is explicit in the lyrical narrative of the album as a whole and implicit in the band’s use of found and re-purposed objects to create its soundworld,” says the press release. Along with founders Emi Honda and Jordan McKenzie, the album sees Elfin Saddle expand to include cellist Kristina Koropecki and former Shapes & Sizes member Nathan Gage.
