The Work
After five highly appreciated label releases, we continue our run of good form with a deep / tech hybrid from American talent Jame Moorfield. Based in Richmond, Virginia, the US DJ/producer saw a step up the ladder last year after a string of lovely cuts for Underground Audio and Sex Panda White; he now joins the Soundspace roster with three track The Work EP. Set for a November 2nd release as SSR006, titles The Takeaway, The Whurk and The Dawn look to showcase the raw character of Moorfield in a ocean crossing collaboration. First up on The Work EP we see The Takeaway, a peak time gem that brings twanging stabs, melodic plucks and a fizzling synth pad that creates emotive harmonies perfect for the room two headliner. Sitting comfortably between the The Takeaway and The Dawn, The Whurk delivers a calming approach to percussive heavy club music. With crunchy drum loops and subtle wood block styled percussion panned off to the left, Jame Moorfield sees this one bring a perfect groove built from the ground up. The EP closes out with the only instrumental of the release; The Dawn. Satisfying our dark tech cravings with a careful progression of chunky drums, plucky-esque percussion riffs and an exciting journey of repetition that very much slots it neatly in the early set of the night.
