How many of you out there remember Tribalation & Grant Dell? For those of you who may not be familiar with Grants music, he is somewhat of a legend in the underground scene & has been on quite a few top labels including 4-Kenzo (Matiksouls label), Loaded & Visitor to name but a few. We were digging through some of our old favorites on vinyl recently and came across one of Grant Dell's records and we thought we would see if he was still into making music. Fortunately for us he said that he was and this project "What Is Life" was re-born. The original mix is a bouncy, house number that can be played in a deep house, funky house or jackin set. This track really is funky to the bone and one not to be missed. We've enlisted one of our favorite producers in Mike Newman & Antoine Cortez to remix this classic and they've taken their remix a bit deeper than the original but still manage to make it bumpin. Mike Newman has been on everything from Milk & Sugar to Toolroom and everything in between. He's fast becoming one of the hardest working producers in the house music business and delivers here once again. David Devilla & Elisabeth Aivar have also gone into the deep end with their rendition and really round this ep out quite nicely. We can see this remix getting some major play in some of the sexy lounges around the globe. David & Elisabeth also have an ep and a few other remixes coming out on Blockhead so stay tuned for these two, they are going to be big! Last but not least, Grant himself has remixed his own track. As most of your fellow producers out there know, this is not an easy task. Grant pulls it off though and brings us right back to those heavy hitting bass days when Tribalation ruled.
