Barclay James Harvests breakthrough album, containing some of their best known tunes including the knockout middle tracks of `Gladriel' (two versions), `Mocking Bird' (3versions) and `Vanessa Simmons'. The orchestral arrangements by Robert John Godfrey compliment the music of Barclay James Harvest very well though at the time and to this day this was the album which soured the relationship between Band and Arranger More on that in the sleeve notes. This 2 disc 40th Anniversary edition comprises a premastered CD and a DVD which contains a DTS and Dulby Digital surround copy of the original SQ QUAD mix for Home movie theatre systems and DVD audio players, (though no DVDA track the DTS is 96/24). A nice touch is the original Stereo mix in 96/24 PCM and the SQ stereo mix in 96/24 PCM for the stereophile and audiophiles amongst the fans. The QUAD mix is very old school with instrumentation in four corners of the room, and at times some wonky orchestra placement great fun though.
